Beginning PRE-INTO THE WILD, Rusty and his four littermates, Princess, Tommy, Luna, and Filou are taken from their home by their mother, Nutmeg. By means unable to be controlled, Nutmeg, Luna, and Tommy die, leaving three of the five kits injured and alone.
