As he's looking he hears Patton's voice coming from just down the hall, and realizes the perfect idea is to go look at the calendar hanging near Patton's room. It was risky, sure, but he could easily just claim to be past him. Or, current him, he supposes.


He walks down the familiar hall, careful to still be quiet. He's sure the other him is out right now, this used to be the time he did errands while Patton spoke to friends and family. He was still adjusting to the move, after all.


He takes down and looks at the front of the calendar, and is surprised and proud to see the year 2023 on it. He's smiling happily and begins hanging it back up when he hears his own name from Patton's room.

The chickens needed feeding, the barn needed cleaning. "Hurry up, Kayley, so we can start your dress later!" Patton grimaced and looked up at the red streamer hanging from the barn roof. If he squinted he could see the neighboring farm, flying the same streamer. Camelot was finally finished. The soaring castle walls in place, stained glass casting bright colors across the floors. The large, circular table was in place. Everything was ready. Patton was going to be at that table if it killed him... and with his biological predicament, it just might. "What are you doing out here, by yourself? You're going to get sick." He took off his jacket and put it over my shoulders. "Hey, hey. Everything is going to be alright, you don't have to cry anymore, I'm right here to protect you." Logan pulled me into another hug, and I was so glad he did because I really needed it. "Do you need me to take you home?" He asked me. I quickly shook my head no. "N-no, can we go to your place?" I asked trying to keep my voice from cracking. "But your parents don't like having you out of the house..." Logan took a moment to look me up and down. The tears on my face, the bags that were by my feet, the sudden phone call at midnight. "Patton, were you kicked out?" he asked, I slowly shook my head. "Are you trying to run away?" He asked again, this time I slowly nodded. He sighed and opened his car door. "I can't just leave you all alone. I know how your family is, you can stay with me for awhile and everything will be fine." He buckled my seatbelt for me took m bags and put them in the trunk, and then came back to kiss my forehead. "I promise."
