The land of Eralia is divided into six kingdoms. Six monarch families rule over their kingdom. These families are called houses. Mage House, Squall House, Tide House, Inferno House, Wild House, and Frost House. The inhabitants of these kingdoms are those gifted by the gods, born with different abilities that match the kingdom they were born in. 
Every hundred years comes The Storm. A magical typhoon sent by the gods. The Storm is both a gift and a curse.
For every Storm, each House must send two competitors to fight in a series of trials as a sacrifice to the gods who control the Storm, and the winner is granted unimaginable power.
During these trials, alliances are made, as well as betrayals, sacrifices, and elaborate plans...

Artemis Mage is the heir to the Mage throne,  and all she has to do is get through the Storm Trials alive and bring honor to her House. But then her mother, the Queen of the Mages, forces Artemis into an alliance with Squall House, Mage House's biggest rival. Artemis then has to work with her sworn enemy, Atlas Squall in order to win the Trials and gain praise from the gods.
But can she trust the boy who killed hundreds of her people including her own brother? And as her feelings for this boy grow and the fatalities, betrayal and danger of these trials complicate things will she remember her purpose before it's too late?
