A chance.

That's all the monsters ever wanted. That's all Day wanted. They wanted a chance to live with a family, being an orphan their entire life. They just wanted to live a normal life, but their existence has proved that the world had other plans for them. Being the only kid in their school with a Determination soul didn't seem to help either.

However, on the day it turned 10 years old, something horrific happened that caused the young kid to flee from the orphanage and into the world of the Underground.
