Miles Richards is from New York City and gets sent to live with his uncle for the summer after blowing off his exams. Unfortunately for Miles, his uncle lives in North Carolina-on a farm. There he is reunited with his cousins and meets Charlie, the girl next door; or in this case, the girl across the creek. No matter how much of a city boy Miles is and how much he wants to back to New York, something about Charlie opens his eyes to the beauty of the country. By the end of the summer, can Miles leave North Carolina?
