The sun beams come through the thick foliage. As I’m walking through the trees it’s like a natural strobe light. I take a deep breath, the air is crisp and inviting. The ground firm and littered with leaves and sticks. My feet crunch beneath me. I see through the trees, I have reached the end of the trees, the tree line. I see another tree line but in the distance. I step out into the field. The grass is soft. It tickles my bare feet. I feel my heart beating, the wildness growing in me. The wind is licking at my clothes. I wanna be a part of the wind. I run.
Then, I hear it. A crippling scream. Coming from everywhere like it’s part of the wind. It’s wrapping around me, entangling my ears and focus. MY hands rush to my ears. Failing at blocking the screech. I’m rolling on the grass now. The sound is getting louder. Just like it started it ended, a moment in the wind. I open my eyes, something is different. I look around the once silky grass is now dead and crusted, the trees are cracked and dried. I’m looking around, how did this happen. It was so green and lush—the screeching is back. It feels like it is coming from my head. I fall to my knees. Tears strolling down my face. My ears are hot. My skin is burning but icy to the touch. I look around for help. I’m screaming but no noise is coming out. I see it. The eyes piercing across the flied to me. I can see the silhouette, thin and frail. But it moves faster and smoother than anything I’ve seen. It’s circling me like hunting me. Is this what’s making the screech. Is it in my head. It’s staring right at me. I can’t keep my eyes on it more than a second the body isn’t scary, the eyes staring and the screeching noise horrifies me. It smiles, no teeth. Wait, no, it has tons of teeth, shaped to a point. Glistening with goo.- No with blood. It breaks the circle and cuts over to me; right on top of me.
