(Read, Write, Rest.) He reclines upon the smoothest cloth, Atop the softest bedding they could find. She raises thoughts before her wakeful eyes, And light gleams from her choice of written lines. 'Turn down the light, I want to sleep.' 'I need it on, I want to read.' 'Please make it dark, I can't stay up.' 'When I have read these words enough.' Soft words drift lightly through her dreamy thoughts, The printed word falls lightly to her knee. He reaches out to turn the bright light off. But stops to gently tuck the sleeper in. 'Turn off the light, I need to sleep.' 'I want it on, I need to write.' 'Please make it dark, like that late night, We slept together in the park.'

Trapped

He had never seen anything like it. She was supposed to break. She was supposed to tremble under his touch, lower her gaze, beg for mercy. Instead, she defies him. Not with words-through her gaze, her movements, something unspoken but present in every breath she takes. He loves it. Loves the way she responds, how she doesn't flee, how she challenges him even though she knows there's no escape. He's never had anything like this. He's never felt hunger like this. She's his. Not because he took her. But because he can't let her go.
