In the summer of 1985 when her parents get divorced, Lilly Smith and her best friend Bailey move out to the small town of Hawkins, Indiana, where Bailey is reunited with her dad and twin brother, Billy, who also happens to be Lilly least favourite person to ever exist.

Although on the outside it may seem that Lilly and Billy can't stand the thought of each other, deep down they both care for each other, more than they would ever dare to let on.
