Severus has loved Lily since he was eight years old, and he knew he always would. He had given up on hoping that she would forgive him, and on hoping that they would ever have a future together. But he had not given up on his hatred for Potter and Black. So long as they continued to bully him he would continue to give as good as he got. What he didn't plan for though, was meeting someone who changed the way he saw everything. But what does he do when that someone is the sibling of his biggest rival? She would never choose him, but he couldn't stop himself from falling in love with yet another lost cause.
Edith Potter was very loved by everyone she knew. Her parents and brother adored her. She was beautiful, kind, and generous. She was the type of person to see good in somebody. Even when they thought there was no good to be found. Which is why she couldn't bring herself to hate Severus Snape the way her brother and his friends did. Edith didn't see what they saw. She saw someone who was broken and misunderstood. Someone who needed the help and support of a genuine friend. What she didn't prepare for however, were the intense feelings that came with that friendship, and the heartbreak that was sure to follow..

'Professor Snape,' Potter slid his gaze from the heinous smoking sludge in the cauldron in front of him. I should have lectured him for whatever crimes he committed during what should have been a simple brewing process, I even had it in mind to revoke points from his house. But in a usual stroke of luck for Potter, I became distracted. More than distracted; lost. It was painfully brief, yet completely unmistakable. Those were Lily's eyes. I found myself staring, my previous thought beyond recovery. The same evergreen ring circling a soft, bright center caused my whole being to take hold of a warm, peaceful grief. I didn't even have it in me to be annoyed that I was no longer cross with the boy. And if I had any sense at all, I would've held back from saying what felt so right to say next. Summary: Severus Snape found some of his duties as a Death Eater particularly distasteful. Rounding up a band of rebel students trying to avoid the changing of the guard at Hogwarts wasn't nearly the worst thing he'd done, and it was possibly even the best. He is tempted to save one of his former students from an unfortunate fate as the group of students are captured by the band of Death Eaters, led by Severus. He isn't sure what game she is playing at, but he is compelled to find out. Author's note: It is my second time writing something since school, and if you enjoyed my first fan fiction, Severus Snape A Soul Undiminished, I hope you will enjoy this one as well. I will forego my standard warning for the steamy chapters and just include it here, as this story may have unplanned "steaminess" throughout that may be more adult in nature. Stylized of course, as it seems that is my nature of writing. I would like to thank Alan Rickman, as his wonderful talent and persona is at heart my inspiration for this story.
