Set in the fictional town of Woodsboro, California, the plot follows high school student Amara Prescott and her life. On the anniversary of her mother's murder, she and her friends became the targets of a costumed serial killer known as Ghostface.

Amara's life changed on November 22, 1993. She found her mother cheating on her father. Who then shoves her daughter down the stairs to cover up the affair. Once awake, she has no memories of the altercation.
