Thomas becomes the missing piece in Newt's life, offering healing and companionship that filled the void left by Saudade. chance encounter with Thomas changes everything. Saudade: Saudade is a word for a sad state of intense longing for someone or something that is absent. A stronger form of saudade may be felt towards people and things whose whereabouts are unknown, loved ones who have died; and the faded, yet golden memories of youth.
