Zuko often feels overwhelmed by the world and reacts in a manner unbeffiting of the Firelord. But it's ok, he knows how to behave, he knows how to shove it all down and put on a facade. He can deal with it. Until he can't.
TLDR; Zuko is autistic, he has a meltdown and can't keep masking, so Sokka is there for him. Together they learn how to manage.
