Maisie was not what you would call 'popular' in school, though many people liked her. She was kind to everyone she crossed paths with, even if she didn't follow along in their habits that she had no desire to participate in. She wasn't shy, but she wasn't loud either. She had big dreams and plans for her life, and that was her focus instead of fitting in or trying to be 'cool'.

She had a well-balanced home life. Two parents who loved her dearly and an older brother named Jack who would do anything for her. When it came to friendships, though, she never experienced true, deep, meaningful friendship until her junior year of high school, when she met Lars. She had always gotten along with people well... she was nice to others and they were nice to her; but with Lars, she had developed an actual 'connection'. He was someone she spent a lot of time with outside of school, someone who came to her house for dinner with her and her family sometimes, someone besides her family that she felt she could actually talk to about anything. The friendship turned into something more, and for a while, everything seemed perfect. It wasn't until after high school that things changed, and not always for the better.

(This is a side story of events happening alongside my other story called 'How Many Things'. These two stories are not related yet but will tie together into one story that I'll upload eventually.)
