Aurora and rafe grew up on the same side of the island but were never particularly fond of one another.
Their families are close due to their parents working together but Aurora turned her back on the kook life early on, rather spending her time with the pogues than waste it away at the country club with the superficial kooks.
Through these circumstances she grew a huge dislike towards the kook king and his companions.

But after she and her family come back from a two month vacation in Italy things seemed to have changed, and a certain dirty blonde kook has sparked her interest.
Same goes for rafe who for some reason can't seem to keep his eyes away from the beautiful redhead.

Through many apparent coincidences, they suddenly find themselves confronted with each other in unexpected ways and Aurora begins to see rafe as more than just the standard bad guy that the whole island has made him out to be.

Their time together quickly makes them feel connected and understood in ways they haven't experienced before.
Will they be able to overcome the differences and problems the OBX society has forced upon them?

The pov switches from hers to his to third person sometimes.
