Cal Genum was an ordinary teenager until the Hephaestus Corporation's Comic Con disaster exposed him to Nigh-cells, transforming him into a unique Nighman with the ability to manipulate his own molecular structure. Capable of becoming as dense as steel, stronger than tanks, and faster than aircraft, Cal finds himself caught between wanting a normal life and a growing responsibility he never asked for. After saving the superhero Marvelous, he is brought into the Garrison, where he trains alongside heroes like Pressure, Lady Magnificent, Rin Williams, and Cortex while struggling with the expectations placed on him.

As mysterious forces begin hunting the survivors of the Hephaestus explosion, Cal discovers his transformation may be connected to something far greater than he imagined. With villains like the psychic manipulator Mockery uncovering hidden truths and a supposedly dead scientist appearing alive, Cal must uncover the secrets behind his powers before he becomes the next target. Caught between fear, responsibility, and the desire to remain himself, Cal must decide whether he will run from the world of heroes-or embrace the role only he can fill.
