Freddy and Sonya are on a road trip, they wished they could say it was a fun trip but it was anything but that. They were attending Sonya's aunts funeral but they nearly didn't make it. Traveling east on the I-480 in Ohio, they came across a stranger in a diner and while, it was merely amusing, the stranger was asking weird questions. Once they hopped on the road, it became even worse when they seen the same stranger walking on the side of the road, hitchhiking. But how? He was still sitting in the diner when they left. They always say don't talk to strangers... don't pick up hitchhikers.. what if this stranger is trying to save your life?

The stranger puts his arm around the stunned lawyer. Behind the unknown man's dark glasses are bloodshot eyes ready to scare the wits out of his prey. "Your mother does. She's expecting me to greet you happy birthday." Removing his dark glasses, he stares at his victim to corrupt his eyes. Insurmountable fear assaults Artemis as excruciating pain drills on his eyeballs. A horrible scream slits through the silence of the night when the clock strikes twelve. As the elevator opens, the stranger loosens his grip and the victim falls on the floor. Covering his bleeding eyes, Artemis winces from severe pain. The man whistles away as he walks past the dead body of the security guard in the lobby to the snowy road outside the building. His victim crawls out of the closing elevator. The curse is true.
