Jack, the Guardian's newest recruit, has accidentally bound himself with Elsa, a person that he personally can't spend ten seconds without arguing with.
The two shared the affinity with ice and often had to share the spotlight. Unfortunately that spotlight wasn't exactly positive, which made the two prefer to be unassociated. That, of course, would be hard since being bound to each other meant they had to stay together.
Not knowing what implications what the bond meant for both of them, they just mutually agreed to not tell anyone. Even the guardians.
That leads to them in their current situation. Faking a "secret" relationship.
