Both Kaya and José are unavailable. Kaya is always taken, bouncing from one boyfriend to the next, leaving a trail of broken hearts behind her. José, on the other hand, is emotionally unavailable, buried in his studies and impervious to the many who have tried to reach him.

Their paths cross unexpectedly when José witnesses Kaya's humiliating moment as her boyfriend splashes water on her. Unable to stand the scene, and recognizing Kaya, José steps in to save her from further embarrassment.
