Kandi, a 25-year-old black alt baddie with a penchant for dark fashion and art, decides to leave the comfort of the suburbs for the vibrant and chaotic life of Chicago. Seeking independence and a fresh start, she lands a job at a warehouse.
At her new job, she meets Damien, a streets-smart rapper with a rough exterior and an attitude to match. Damien is everything Kandi is not: loud, brash, and deeply entrenched in Chicago's underground music scene. Their initial encounters are filled with clashes and misunderstandings, each seeing the other as a representation of everything they dislike.
However, as they are forced to work together more frequently, they begin to see beyond the surface. Kandi discovers Damien's passion for music and the struggles he's faced to pursue his dreams, while Damien learns about Kandi journey of self-discovery and the reasons behind her alt persona.
Through late-night conversations and shared experiences, they start to develop a mutual respect and understanding. As their walls come down, an unexpected romance blossoms, challenging their preconceived notions about love and identity. Together, they navigate the complexities of their contrasting worlds, finding common ground in their love for anime, art/music and each other.
