All the people he killed in his life-men, women, kids-they are all a blurry memory. Something he had to do, so he did it. All of them. Except for them. Nix's parents. He still has the image of their eyes and how afraid they were. He didn't care at the time; targets are always afraid. It's part of the game, having to see the last moment of desperation for life get shut inside their eyes. It was almost like their soul would fade instead of getting out, like the sudden and unplanned death changed the plans. It's part of the game. He remembers everything about that night-every little detail, every little thought he had. Nix's mother was about to scream, he could tell, but he was too quick, and he cut her throat open in a swing of the blade. He wasn't supposed to use the Katana, he was still learning with it, but it felt nice. Nix's dad, however... when he saw what he did to his wife, his eyes lit up like crazy. "This man is fucking insane", he remembers thinking. The very same light he saw years later in Nix's eyes... but it was different-it was way more gentle, in a way.
