Jane jumped off the bridge to rescue Paul Wescourt, who had been falsely accused of murdering his mistress. After Jane convinced him not to jump off the bridge and end his life, he ended up falling into the water beneath him. Jane, a police detective, rushed to his rescue in front of her best friend Maura, Chief Medical Examiner of Massachusetts, who panicked at the sight of Jane falling into the water. Now it was already the day after that nocturnal fall, and there was not a trace of Paul or Jane. Events were about to take a far more tragic turn than anyone could have imagined.
