Winter had been alone most of her life. Locked up in a room in the WICKED lab. She only got out to go to classes and do medical tests. She grew to believe feelings were useless in a world like hers. Full of the Flare, sickness and death, feelings were the weakness that could cost you your life.

There were two boys that brightened her day though.

Newt, sweet, caring. The blond boy with his british accent always managed to get a rare smile on Winter's face.

Minho, sarcastic, cocky. He irritated Winter to no end, but was also her best friend in the sick and twisted world they lived in.
