Emma Ayers suffers from PTSD from sexual abuse. From ages 8-13, she was raped, molested, and tortured by her Uncle Jack. Despite the fact that he is in jail, and she's 28, her emotional scars are deep. She won't be in a relationship, and can't stand anyone touching her. She works as a clinical psychologist, trying to help others with their emotional trauma, even though she can't overcome hers. Carter Hackney is a psychopath. He can't feel any emotions, nothing. Ever since his traumatic childhood, his emotions have shut down completely. Despite his rough start, he has collected a large fortune for himself as an entrepreneur. Carter wants Emma's help to counsel him out of being a psychopath, and for him to gain his emotions back. Emma wants to heal her emotional scars and prepare to enter future romantic relationships. Their plan is to "date" so that Carter can start to try and feel romantically and be more open with her, and so that she can start to see what a real, healthy relationship is like. Despite her strict rules on not mixing her business life with her personal, the two can't help but feel drawn to each other. Can Emma overcome her past, and learn to be in a loving relationship, and allow a man to romantically touch her? Can Carter get back all of the emotions he thought he'd lost, and start to love again? Roman

#1 in boyfriend (um what? Am I dreaming?) "Oh kid," he laughs and walks closer to me. He doesn't get close enough to stand between my legs, but his thighs still brush my shins. "Maybe you'll be able to pay better attention if you get used to this," he says, casting a small glance down to his exposed torso. I doubt it. Roman is Sadie's childhood crush. And the brother of her best friend, Naomi. For years she has hidden her feeling for him because you just aren't allowed to be in love with your best friend's brother. When they all come home for Thanksgiving break, Sadie and Naomi are transported back to their high school years of sleepovers, blanket forts, and exchanging secrets. But for Sadie, this means hiding her feelings for Naomi's brother just like she had for all of high school, but now that she's older and more mature, will her affections for him dissipate, or will she realize that there was no way she could ever hide her feelings from him or her best friend?
