My name is Ashley. I have a disease called Myalgic Encephalomyelitis. I know, it is a mouthful. I find it ironic to have such an exhausting word to describe it. More commonly it is known as chronic fatigue syndrome, or CFS for short. It is defined as an extreme fatigue that can not be explained by an underlying medical condition. Despite years of rigorous testing, my doctors do not have an answer as to why, and beyond the typical suggestions of changing my diet, exercising, and getting a decent amount of sleep there is not much that can be done. There are no proven treatments currently, only treatments to helps manage the symptoms, and that is what I do every day. This is collection of poems written over time, about living with my disease.
