After the events of How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, dragon hunters locate the Hidden World and attack it. The dragons return to the archipelago as a result, and the dragon trade becomes more prominent than ever. During the attack, Toothless is shot down and kept prisoner as a testament to Viking superiority over dragons underneath The Cage, a sprawling outpost for the dragon trade erected inside the Hidden World. An unnamed dragon trapper recounts his experience with Toothless over a century after the battle shot him down and tells of how he changed.
