Breaking Masquerade of Heroes

The heroes are all known as heroes for a reason. But why is this reason the case? There is only one simple explanation for this, and that's because they save the world. But the reason why? There is no describing it, but their facade of being perfect is slowly breaking more and more. There is no telling if the heroes are lying to the people or not. Or if it's just burning hatred that is growing more and more within the people.
