Claire has waited her whole life for this moment, this is the time where she will finally be able to do what she has always wanted to, research the human brain and how it reacts in different situations. Okay so maybe she hasn't waited her whole life for this, but still this is the best chance she has to prove to her collage apps that she is determined and good at what she does.
Kai is only in this class because he needed a science credit for this semester. Don't get me wrong it's not that he's not smart it's just that science isn't really his strong suit, math is. So he thought why not take this independent research class, it has to involve some type of calculations in it. So that's how he ended up being paired up with the person that despises him the most, and that has always been in competition with him for any academic award.
Now that they have to work together they came up with the brilliant idea for their independent research project, they were going to fake date. Claire had noticed how differently people had started treating her friend after she started dating compared to when she was single. So now they are determined to get to the bottom of this weird phenomenon that has been happening all around them.
