Although Erebor is his once more, Thorin knows there is still a great threat to the peace of Middle Earth. Azog is gone, but another has taken his place and has sworn to finish what Azog began. Erebor is back, but it's sadly lacking in protection and as much as he hates the thought of it, Thorin knows there is one thing that will guarantee the safety and continuation of his line.

 War is coming and all Eirlys of Mirkwood wishes to do is fight alongside her brother Legolas and the other elves, united with Men and Dwarves in their attempt to quell the renewed tensions between them and the orc army of the north. Wounded in the Battle of the Five Armies, Thorin Oakenshield and his two nephews are brought to Rivendell. There, the three dwarves begin the long, arduous, and taxing road to recuperation and all Thorin wants it to be well enough to return to Erebor and his rightful place on that throne. Amara makes him want to punch something, but at the same time, with each day, his desire for her outweighs his aggravation with her. Amara of Rivendell has devoted her life to healing, but she never expected to meet someone like Thorin. The proud, stubborn dwarf challenges her to no end, and in return, she works him until he swears revenge. But along the way, she realizes there is more to the King Under the Mountain than meets the eye, and as they come to know one another, she becomes more determined to break down his walls and bring some happiness into his life. Not only is she only just barely a qualified to even set foot in the infirmary, but she stutters when she gets nervous and nervous does not even begin to describe how she's feeling. To make matters worse, no one thought to warn her that she would be caring for the king himself, Thorin Oakenshield. Unfortunately, the road to recovery isn't necessarily a smooth one, but if there's one thing Thorin will learn, it's that what Jasna lacks in experience and training, she makes up for in stubbornness, giving him a run for his money.
