In a world forever altered by a cataclysmic event, humanity now exists in two starkly contrasting realms. One side is a gleaming enclave of advanced technology and apparent perfection, while the other is a desolate wasteland where survivors struggle amid the ruins of a lost civilization. Within the utopian enclave of Passis, Kade, a man who typically avoids bending the rules or venturing beyond his comfort zone, is drawn into a journey of discovery by a lone survivor in the Rift. As he delves deeper, he uncovers disturbing truths about the hidden costs and the Sovereigns' oppressive measures that keep the desperate inhabitants of the Rift isolated and forgotten.

One July morning, a small rebel group led by Miles and Emi conducts a mission against the Supremacy, setting a building ablaze outside the city of Zafran. Miles immediately knows the airport is not a normal target. Something is wrong. Some of the rebels are hiding their true goal. He could ask-but Emi will not answer, and who is he to challenge his partner when he has secrets of his own, and doubts he cannot silence? On the outskirts of the city, a girl runs from her past. Her memories. Herself. She keeps moving to stay numb, but when she is forced to stop, the voices catch up. If she does not reach somewhere safe soon, she will shatter completely. The Supremacy has plastered the girl's face and name across the city. The only thing protecting young Inerts from their direct violence is their status as Fated-the youngest generation before complete infertility swept the nation. What will it take for the Supremacy to claim those it considers untouchable? It all starts with one fire. This is a slow-burn, multiple deep-POV literary dystopian novel about people who survive by carrying the consequences of their choices. Though the story includes rebellion and action, at its core it is an intimate love story shaped by miscommunication, fear, and loyalty-between people bound to each other and to one city. ⚡︎ ➹ ☍ Icons correspond to which POV the chapter is narrated by. Two strangers wake in a world that doesn't feel like their own. The land is broken, its people divided, and shadows of machines stalk the ruins. But the deeper challenge lies within - clashing ideals, unspoken secrets, and choices that could shape what little future remains. In a place where survival means sacrifice, trust becomes the hardest fight of all.
