Daerys Targaryen, the second and last child of King Viserys and Queen Aemma, lives her life impulsively. Beloved in court, she enjoys all the freedom that her youth and being a dragonrider affords her. When her father and stepmother, Queen Alicent, inform Daerys of her duty to wed her half-brother Aegon, she is less than pleased. As Daerys is thrust from her gleeful youth, she begins to see that the court of the Red Keep is not as kind as it seemed. With war looming on the horizon, each choice she makes could either raise her to the Iron Throne itself or cause her to stumble into nothingness.
