All Bonnie Blake wanted was a weekend trip with her friends, but what she got was three funeral invites, one traumatized friend, and an abandoned relationship.
Fast forward five years, and Bonnie has become one of the most popular search-and-rescue dog handlers in Tornado Alley, having also formed the storm-chasing/relief gang nicknamed the "Pick-Up Chasers".
After a quiet start to tornado season, Bonnie is back on the road with her teammates. But what she wasn't expecting was to run into several familiar faces at a gas station whilst waiting for the next band of tornadoes to blow over.
Five years of separation have done little to heal the wounds Bonnie received the day her friends were ripped away from her, and as far as she can tell, her ex-boyfriend isn't too keen on giving her any help in the process.
Determined to keep her job and to keep her head on straight, Bonnie prioritizes her work, her team, and her dogs. But with the looming threat of stronger tornadoes and more damage coming ever closer, Bonnie must decide if distance from the past is really the best remedy for the wounds it caused.
"Darlin, as much as we love looking at your legs in those boots, please keep them off the dash"
