Knox Riorson's life was shattered eight years ago when her father's role as the leader of a failed rebellion led to her being sent to a foster home with an assassin who helped end the uprising. Though she's always known her future would lead her to the Riders Quadrant, the journey has been anything but simple.

For the past seven years, Knox has been haunted by persistent voices-whispers in her mind that began a year after the rebellion. These voices have been her only companions, and she's determined to uncover why they're there, always talking and listening.
Upon arriving at Basigth, Knox is met with disbelief: everyone thought she was dead. Xaden and the other marked ones were led to believe she had been executed as a cautionary example for stepping out of line.

Now, Knox must fight not only for her survival but also to reclaim her sense of self and purpose. As she battles to establish her place among the Riders, she must confront the mysteries of her own mind and the shadows of her past, striving to forge a future that is truly her own.
