"Here." Sonic smiled, holding a blood red rose. "It matches your eyes."
I stood there, completely bewildered, but took it. And with that, he smiled, kissing my cheek before disappearing into the night.
I felt my face grow warm as I raised a hand to touch the spot his lips had met my skin. 'What is this feeling?' I wondered.

Ever since his sister, Maria, was killed due to cancer, Shadow hasn't let anyone even an inch near his heart. But that all changes when he meets a young, annoyingly adorable boy named Sonic.
As the boy persists a friendship with Shadow, Shadow wonders why this boy wanted so badly to be friends with him. After all, all Shadow did was say "no" every time. So why did Sonic keep up his nagging?
Shadow didn't understand, after all he'd been raised by his adopted sister's alcoholic grandfather all his life. But that man made Shadow do all the housework, and barely let him leave the house, only allowing the young boy to go to the grocery store, or liquor store. Shadow's never had a single friend since Maria. Who was the only person to ever treat him with kindness.
So why was Sonic so interested in being friends with him? And why did Shadow want so badly to be friends with the chaotic, determined young boy who just so happened to be his age. Sixteen.
Shadow just couldn't understand it.
But one day, Shadow finally agrees to accept Sonic's phone number. And as the two bond, they started secret nightly meetings. Meeting usually around midnight. And whenever Shadow showed up, Sonic was always waiting for him. With a blood red rose.
Soon these secret meetings turn into secret dates. But these two lovers know that they won't be able to keep their relationship a secret forever.
