Mai Johnson is your normal girl from the good ol' U-S of A. Her entire life, she's suffered from controlling narcissists controlling her one way or another. When she fought back, she was forced back into her place. While she is Isekai'd her best friend is reincarnated so that they can continue to be friends. However, their paths are different. While Mai ends up in the Tsukasa Empire catching the eye of a certain power hunger Darwinist, Azuri ends up in Ishigami Village, best friends with the chief's daughters and Chrome.

However, Mai and Azuri aren't the only people that aren't from the original story line. They are joined by twenty-three year old Artemis 'Arte' a famous archer from Japan who is revived by by Tsukasa for her excellent eyesight and proficiently with a bow and the smart mouth nine year old Takumi who was in the middle of beating the crap out of his drunk old man with a kendo stick when the Petrification hit. He breaks himself free several days before Mai's arrival into the world and encounters Hyoga and Mai having a discussion on if she's strong enough to survive in the world. Hyoga, impressed with the child's strength and Mai's strong will decides to keep them as his personal allies.

However, after the fall of Hyoga and Tsukasa, Hyoga is captured and imprisoned. Mai explains to Senku and the others that was only cruel out of survival to which Azuri vouches for her. Mai and Takumi are accepted into the Kingdom of Science.
