Ambientada dos años antes de los eventos de "Komi-san wa, Komyushō desu", la historia sigue la vida de Chuushaku Kometani, un joven amigable aspirante a escritor, cuyo declive emocional lo lleva a transformarse en el extrovertido comentarista y amigo de Shouko Komi y Hitohito Tadano.

Chuushaku Kometani tiene una rivalidad fuerte con su hermana mayor, Hanna Kometani (La dueña de un exitoso banco, llamado: «H.K»). Ambos hacen una apuesta: Si Chuushaku logra terminar y publicar su libro antes de fin de año, ella pagará su preparatoria. Si él pierde, tendrá que trabajar como su secretario en el banco. Y ahí comienza la historia, siendo una carrera contra el tiempo para Chuushaku Kometani.

Once (y/n) moves back she is kinda excited but at the same time nervous. She ends up realizing that Karasuno is the closest school so she has to see Kageyama again. Once she's there she can't find him anywhere. She does find, however, her old elementary-middle school friends. Once she finds out about the volleyball club she remembers how much Kageyama loved volleyball and notices that there's an opportunity to join by becoming the assistant manager for when the 3rd year, Kiyoko Shimizu, graduates.
