Types of carp

A varied group of fish, carp are popular in aquaculture and among anglers. Throughout the world, the common carp can be found in a variety of freshwater environments due to its adaptability and tenacity. One characteristic that sets mirror carp apart from ordinary carp is its asymmetrical scalar pattern. Another variety is the leather carp, which has little or no scales. Because of their insatiable desire for aquatic plants, grass carp are beneficial for controlling weeds in bodies of water. Smaller and native to Europe, crucian carp are highly valued for their resilience. A bright and domesticated variety, koi are popular in decorative ponds.
