"I am happy for Rohit, granny" Armaan began, his voice steady, yet laced with an underlying sense of frustration. "But I need a cabin - which will be used by me - only me."
Kaveri with steel in her gaze, raised an eyebrow. "There's no vacancy left, Armaan. You can use the conference room."
Armaan's jaw clenched. "Can I ask you why?"
"I don't understand why you are making a fuss about it," Kaveri replied coolly.
"I am too a part of the firm, Dadisa. I cannot just sit in the conference room and gape at the ceiling. All my cases are transferred to Rohit. It was your choice, but he isn't in the field properly."
Kaveri's eyes narrowed. "Who are you to decide? Wait - are you not liking the fact that Rohit is getting more attention than you? Of course, you are an outsider. You cannot digest the fact that Rohit has taken over the firm, isn't it?"
"It's getting personal now, grandmother," Armaan's voice rose with frustration.
"By staying with this girl, you have gone haywire. Abhira has manipulated you completely," Kaveri's words cut through the tension like a knife.
"Dare a word against my Abhira, and I will cross the line!" Armaan's voice thundered in the verandah.
"You have already crossed the line, Armaan!" Kaveri shot back.
"Is it so? Okay then. If I have crossed the line, let me make it clear that I am resigning from Poddar Associates. I am out now." Armaan's declaration hung heavy in the air, a shocking decision that reverberated through the firm.
Armaan walked out of the house, his hand entwined with Abhira's, with his heart heavy yet resolute. For the first time, he had stood up against Kaveri, against tradition, against the firm that had defined his life for so long. As he walked out of the house, he knew that this was his chance to prove that he was not defined by Poddar Associates - he was his own man, with his own path to forge.
