Follow the story of Orion as he confronts his past and future in a grim hellscape of a wasteland decades after the Courier's victory at Hoover Dam sent the Mojave into chaos.

My Philosophy behind the writing of this story:
So, this is my first time writing a story, since the 6th grade at least. You can tell by how much I improve the formatting past chapter 10 lol. Anway, I think many people found DUST's loony edgyness to be a negative. And I get it, despite my love for the mod, I can see why people might think it's childishly bleak even if it explains why things are the way they are well. So with that being said, one day I was listening to the Jeff the Killer episode of Creepcast in the shower. And in it, they mention that A. It's very edgy, and B. It's cold open kinda falls flat. Immediately, my mind turned to DUST, it too is over the top edgy with a cold open. That gave me the idea; could I write a better cold opening than this old internet creepypasta? So I did (i will at least give myself that), which then made me think about the first point; could I write a story that's over the top edgy, but still had a good narrative? That's what made the character of Orion, the protagonist. My main inspirations for him were the Red Dead series , The Ghoul from the tv show, and interestingly; Kendrick Lamar's DAMN. If you're familiar with any of these, you've probably noticed that they all have edgy, or at least hyper self serious aspects to them. But they are also self critical of those elements. This story aims to do that; tell a badass flashy story that takes itself seriously, while also making sure to show it's flaws, without making a flawed narrative. And in the end, create a tale of hope prospering in the darkest places of the world. If you enjoy the bleakness of DUST or even the original fallouts, I think you'll enjoy this story. And if you enjoy the campier and more inspiring aspects of the bethesda titles, I think you'll also enjoy this story.Creative Commons (CC) Attribution

Take a moment to ask yourselves these questions: What would you do in the name of survival? Would you steal to survive? Would you kill to survive? Would you lose your mind to survive? If you lost your mind, do you think you'd kill more, steal, injure, backstab, rape or any other atrocity you can think of? If you can think of it, then maybe you would. The characters and situations in this book are very real, if gore or horrific mental images scare you, then I wouldn't recommend reading far. DESCRIPTION: The Infection claimed the lives of over 3 billion people before the TV's went off. But it would claim many more. The problem didn't arise when those people got up and started walking again, or even when they started eating and infecting others, it began when people got desperate. In this new world, the true evil that humans are capable of gradually becomes more apparent, and a part of everyday life. Normality doesn't exist, people don't help other people. Friends aren't a thing anymore. All anyone truly has is themselves, and the burdens they carry.

Symere is obsessed with PopTarts and the devil and Jordan is obsessed with Symere. Michael and Jarad basically claimed eachother but aint datin. Nahmir and Taymor have a real cute relationship goin on. Diego loves Kimetrius but Metri's so oblivious. Omar and Gazzy have a bipolar as fuck relationship. One minute they'll be yellin and fightin and the next they'll be makin out. Jay and Cordae. I ain't know a lot bout them cause they barley ever hang out with the guys. The only thing you need to know about Gus is he's a loner but a pretty chill guy. And finally Stokeley. I know so much about him but I ain't gon list them cause that would take forever. But the most important thing you need to know is I've been watching them play at the park for the past 4 years of my life. This story follows the young prodigy Grant Alan, a scholar turned telekinetic, surviving in a strange new world after the colossal science vessel, the Halfpace, passes into a future very foreign to him, populated by anthropomorphic creatures that have dominated humanity after a planet-wide war. To ultimately find out what happened to the last vestiges of humanity, Grant must use his wits, friendships and newfound power to navigate this new and dangerous world while an ancient, malevolent force slowly corrupts its new anthro leaders. I wrote this because I was partly inspired by "A Man In A Beast's World" by @GhillieCamo. Admittedly, my head was kind of in two places when writing this. Part of me wanted to create this really thoughtful, slow-burning, thriller sci-fi story experience with lots of lore and things to mull over, and the other half wanted to make a human x anthro romance story, dripping with provocative scenes, dialogue and drama. I'd say the story has both, but more of the former, which I think is ultimately better than if it was the other way around. I don't claim to be the best, or even good, at storytelling, and there are definitely a couple issues I have in my story, but people have been telling me they really like this story. In light of readers telling me how much they enjoyed the short story collection, "Strange Mutations (one man's trash)", I decided to dig deeper into that old, smelly trash-bin and see what else I could scrounge up. I needed to find a way to segregate these stories from my current writing because what's presented here are some rough drafts that spawned from an amateur who was just beginning to dip his toe into the world of literature and didn't have the slightest clue what he was doing. I was inspired to write this story after reading Jon Krakauer's novel, "Under the banner of heaven", which was based on true events. My story, however, is completely fictional. It is not meant to be an attack on any certain person or religious group, although it may seem that way at times. I was just having fun. I'm well aware that most Mormons are not psychopaths. It was just a fun theme to play around with. All persons, places, and events are nothing more than my imagination and not to be taken seriously.
