The world of humans and daegons are intertwined with each other. Our winter is the daegons' summer. Our night is the daegons' day. One land cannot prosper without the other suffering.

Once there had been balance until the daegons cheated fate. Now they experience eternal prosperity, while humans struggle to survive. Every year, a human challenger steps forward to save the country, only to meet their demise.

No one expects the newest challenger, 17 year old Heather, to survive. However, Heather has more at stake than just her life, but her sister's too.

With help from a mysterious boy in the woods, Heather will navigate treacherous obstacles and unravel secrets that will change everything she thought she knew.
