Space Captain Lambda is the hero of the cosmos and defender of justice! After saving a planet from the threat of for-profit healthcare, he is sent to the edge of the galaxy to save a scientist who crashed on a hostile world ruled by an empire of rigid rules. This is an original work blending the vibes, styles and worlds of Flash Gordon (1936 and '80) and Barbarella ('68), if Flash was a trans dude. This is meant to recall some of the styles and understandings of the various eras of Flash Gordon and Barbarella with all of the camp and cheese. So yes the science is fanciful, the terminology dated and it will occasionally get as horny as thinly veiled French erotica. It's queer, specifically trans, af so if you're not into that don't stay. This is intended to echo the vibe of the old serials of the 10-40s, not a novel. You're not flowing from one chapter to the next but coming back to the cinema the next week and seeing a recap if you missed the last one. Now you've got 20 mins of action before a random dramatic cliffhanger!

Some stories begin a long time ago, in galaxies far, far away, but not this one. Maybe it starts when The Dodo - a clapped out cargo ship on a delivery run to the remote colony of Kingstown - is stranded in the Herne system. Or when The New British Commonwealth launched humankind's first interstellar vessel, and stuffed it full of celebrities. Or you could say it began much earlier. Over 2000 years ago, when the Roman legions were marching across Europe, and dragons roamed the skies over Britain. If you believe in such things. Joyce Archer, captain of The Dodo, and formerly of Scotland Yard, wants nothing to do with it. But then her chief engineer, Danny Wycowski, falls head over heels for Tom Twig, a brilliant med student and the sweetest twink in the galaxy. The Dodo's crew soon find themselves doing battle with zombies, dragons, killer guinea pigs, and a mysterious cult leader calling himself Herne.
