Out of the Ashes

Old Troy reaped rue in the womb of years
For stolen Helen's sake;
Till tenfold retribution rears
Its wreck on embers slaked with tears
That mended no heart-ache.
The wail of the women sold as slaves
Lest Troy breed sons again
Dreed o'er a desert of nameless graves,
The heaps and the hills that are Trojan graves
Deep-runneled by the rain.

But Troy lives on. Though Helen's rape
And ten-year hold were vain;
Though jealous gods with men conspire
And Furies blast the Grecian fire;
Yet Troy must rise again.
Troy's daughters were a spoil and sport,
Were limbs for a labor gang,
Who crooned by foreign loom and mill
Of Trojan loves they cherished still,
Till Homer heard, and sang,

They told, by the fire when feasters roared
And minstrels waited turns,
Of the might of the men that Troy adored,
Of the valor in vain of the Trojan sword,
With the love that slakeless burns,
That caught and blazed in the minstrel mind
Or ever the age of pen.
So maids and a minstrel rebuilt Troy,
Out of the ashes they rebuilt Troy
To live in the hearts of men.

Yasmini

"Set down my thoughts not yours if the tale is to be worth the pesa."

The why and wherefore of my privilege to write a true account of the Princess Yasmini's early youth is a story in itself too long to tell here; but it came about through no peculiar wisdom. I fell in a sort of way in love with her, and that led to opportunity.

She never made any secret of the scorn with which she regards those who singe wings at her flame. Rather she boasts of it with limit-overreaching epithets. Her respect is reserved for those rare men and women who can meet her in unfair fight and, if not defeat her, then come close to it. She asks no concessions on account of sex Men's passions are but weapons forged for her necessity; and as for genuine love-affairs, like Cleopatra, she had but two, and the second ended in disaster to herself.

"You were a nurse, no?" I asked her. "Now, I am a stripper." She replied with a hint of agitation in her tone. At loss of words, I stayed quiet as she turned to walk away. Even in the dark sky of light, I could make out her perfectly carved figure and with a newfound interest, I started to walk behind her. She turned around with a frown marred on her face, "Don't follow me." I grabbed the back of her head and pushed her against the wall, "What are you doing here?" Her violet eyes lit up with a fire, "I don't see how that's your business." Her voice was naturally soft but her tone was harsh. And that ticked me off. Pressing my body against hers, I answered, "You are my business, Rheannon. I own that club." I could feel the rapid rise of her breathing just before she pushed me away, "You own that club, Angelo. Not me." Saying that, she ran away. - Rheannon Aurora Pallas, an excellent nurse who have always outdone her duties, had to leave the hospital she worked at as well as the country she called home. And now that she was here, she could not leave. Not until she finds the person she's looking for. Enter Angelo Petrakis, renowned businessman in the day and a drug smuggler by the night. Oh, and did I mention that he is also the patient she once nursed and the man who owns the strip club she works at? No? Well, there's always a first time for everything. When they first met, they hated each other with a passion. But, maybe, just maybe that passion can give birth to an emotion that they both are unaware of. After all, love can be found in the most unexpected of places. --- It's a Spin-off to Sinbound & can be read as a Stand Alone.

'You didn't answer my question,' he asked, holding her gaze in his hypnotic ones. 'Wh... what question?' She was surprised at her own voice, it sounded like of someone else's. She wanted to ask him--which question, there were so many he had asked her tonight. Each one threatening in their own different ways to her sanity. Brandan smiled mysteriously. Not answering her, he instead said something else, 'Don't keep staring at me like that.' His voice was soft. Suddenly, she found herself in some other world. 'W.. why?' She stammered ridiculously. His lips slightly brushed against her, she closed her eyes in anticipation, under the spell of their lips connecting. Sparking were the electricity all over her skin. ''Cause....' He took a step back from her, leaving her cold and she was too lost to do something about it--like leaping closer to him and getting engulfed in the euphoric warmth once again. ''Cause, you will fall in love with me... ' He paused as growling deeply a set of thunders boomed above the skies. Cold wind made her hair dance around. He finally finished his sentence, 'Again.' Rain poured down upon her heavily as if the entire sky was about to break down over her, She opened her eyes against the cold water to see he had lef alreadyt, leaving her to drown into his words, completely. *** They say love's blind. Maybe that's why Emma loved Brandan despite all odds, more than she loved herself but only to find that it wasn't enough. When time and fate decided to be cruel to the utmost, she found herself broken in all the ways possible. Realizing that love wasn't enough, she picked up her ruined self and found a new beginning at the end. But fate had, apparently, some unexpected plans in store. Against all odds, they were meant to face one another once again. But this time, Brandan was a changed man and so was Emma. While one was burnt from the pain, another was burnt from the guilt. "It was a mistake..." She told her mother, folding her hands into each other. "Marrying him..." Her mother said nothing, she simply sat there as her only daughter stood across from her, on the verge of collapsing from bruised ribs and cracked shins. "Mom." She wanted to reach out, softly tap her aging mother. Though that was the restriction of her life. The binding stereotype that she was gentle and slow to anger. In reality, what wanted to explode from her ribs was a scream of an animal, and the tears of repressed rage and fear. She wanted to throw her body onto the floor, but the thought made her damaged body ache more. There was no response from her mother. The deafening silence reminded her of her own quietness as her husband shouted at her, his fists bloody. He told her that she was only a tool for his amusement and a money-whore for her indigent family. She was nothing else but a tool for both parties. And she was starting to believe him. --------------------- Sarah Johnsen's life spirals from the normal gritty resilient fight to a serene wonderland. On the outside, she's married to a kind family with untold riches, but on the inside, her husband is the devil himself. Forcefully married at 18, Sarah was forced to kill her own dreams of becoming a doctor in order to bind her poor family to the rich bastards of Glendale by marrying their youngest; Oliver Grean. Their arrangement had the ability to brew the largest timespan of misery any of them has ever known. From lost toddlers to paid staged kidnappings, the binding of the two families, the Johnsen's and the Grean's created a mixture of chaos, confusion, sorrow, fear, grief, and dangerous rage. "Well," she said sweetly, fake as hell. "Jude's a great guy. You know, polite and handsome. Such a gentleman." "That so?" I muttered, voice dark. "Too bad I don't give a fuck what kind of gentleman he is." I leaned in, lips ghosting hers. Close, but not touching. "But we both know he can't get on his knees and eat your pussy like I do. Can't fuck you the way I do. Can't make you beg. Can't make you scream. Can't break you the way you like it." I dragged my fingers up her thigh, slow, stopping just short of her slick center. "In case you've forgotten..." I didn't finish the sentence. I wanted her to feel it. I wanted her to fucking remember. She sucked in a breath, tried to play it off with a smirk. "You're so full of yourself. If you were that good, I wouldn't have wandering eyes." I grabbed her chin firm, but not rough. "You don't have wandering eyes," I said, low and dangerous. "You're just a greedy little slut who gets cranky when I'm not around to fuck the attitude out of you." ~~~~~ She made the rules to protect her heart. He is about to break every one.
