Background Info
This is a short script I wrote a few months back for my Drama 2 Class Acting Recital a comedy about teenagers, texting, and how we blow things out of proportion. Its the first full piece I've ever written and it is also the first play I've ever acted on stage in. Some parts may not transfer well from stage to plain reading but please bare with me and use your immagination.
Character BreakdownEmily: girlfriend to Michael, worrisome, controlling
Anna: Emily’s best friend, single. doesn’t have a date to prom, pessimistic
Store Clerk: wise somewhat cranky older woman
Michael: Emily’s boyfriend down to earth and very sarcastic
Joshua: Michael’s best friend pretty goofy and a little dumb but pretty wise
Setting: a group of friends getting ready for prom a few weeks away. The girls are in one place shopping for dresses while the guys are at another looking for tuxes. Like any modern teenager they are almost always using their cell phones.
