Deep End

"We're going to die, aren't we?" I sob uncontrollably.

Asad keeps his eyes averted and doesn't touch me as he carefully drapes the scarf over my head.

I hiccup, tears streaming down my face as I wear the scarf correctly. I attempt to tuck my little hairs into the thin fabric with trembling fingers.

Asad has his green eyes still in the corner and away from me as he mutters, "I won't let you die, Mira."

"We'll get out of this." He speaks with quiet confidence.

𝐌𝐢𝐫𝐚 𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐤𝐡 is an ordinary Muslim girl. She is a studious girl who is her high school's topper, she is extremely clumsy, she only has a small group of close friends, and she's the head girl, leading her schools student council. But, above all, she tries her best to follow what Allah has commanded of her. She doesn't bother with boys and is sure that her soulmate will come when Allah thinks she is ready. She is a firm believer, but she is not perfect, and sometimes she strays from the right path.

𝐀𝐬𝐚𝐝 𝐑𝐢𝐚𝐳 has fallen into bad habits. He constantly gets into trouble, smokes, is a womaniser, plays around with girls, and skips school regularly. He is a Muslim and believes in Allah, but after a certain incident, he doesn't care about staying on the right path. He has bad company who encourage his bad-boy ways, and he's collecting fangirls wherever he goes. Not to mention, he has a bit of an attitude (and addiction) problem.

What will happen when these two opposites meet? Will their differences tear them apart, or will they find a way to grow together?

One thing is certain: their journey won't be without its challenges.
