Alex isn't even sure what he is doing here. Sure, he has just been dumped or something and Bea didn't want him to be alone, but it's not like he has any interest in being a part of the fun. He isn't exactly in their friends' group; he is just Bea's brother. And as much as Alex loves Bea, he viciously hates her brother. He is a stuck-up self-righteous prick who thinks he is better than anyone else, just because he is smart or whatever. And Alex isn't even convinced that he actually is smart at all.
"Try to be nice, okay?" Alex overhears Bea talking to her brother as they enter the hotel lobby.
"Tell him that." Henry mumbles, clearly gesturing towards Alex who casually flips him off with a fake smile plastered to his lips.
"Both of you!" Bea raises her voice which doesn't happen all that often and Henry caves.
"I'll behave." He mutters in a low voice. "If he stops being an idiot."

Alex and Henry hate each other. That much is clear to Alex. So, when Nora decides to make them share a room on their trip to Italy, Alex thinks she might have lost her mind. Afterall, there is no one worse than Henry Fox, to be forced to spend time with.

"God, Sage, you're so frustrating. You really don't get it, do you?" "No, Cole. I don't. Why are you acting like this? Me and Henry are just friends." "Right. Like how you and I are just friends?" I paused. The room felt smaller. The tension between us pulsed in the air. My heartbeat quickened, chest tight. "Henry has a girlfriend," I said quietly. "Why are you being such a jerk? I said I was sorry. I never promised anything. There'll be other games." "Yeah, but-" "Yeah, but what, Cole? If you have something to say, just say it. Damn it." His voice dropped, rough and vulnerable all at once. "Because, Sage." "Because what?" And then he grabbed my face and pulled me instantly into his lips Not softly. Not tentatively. Hungrily Sage isn't new to charm. She's smart, magnetic, a little guarded, and she has a laugh that makes people lean in. But she's also the kind of girl who notices things, like the way Cole's eyes always flicks down to her lips before he catches himself, or how he'll always offer her his hoodie before she even says she's cold. Cole is frustrating. Not in the way most guys are. He's not loud or cocky or trying too hard to be funny. No, Cole is frustrating because he's thoughtful, and somehow knows exactly what to say to make Sage's stomach flip. He's the kind of guy who acts calm but falls apart the second she walks into a room. The kind who overthinks texts, panics around eye contact. He's not good at hiding it.

Perfect Strangers

Follow my Instagram for any updates and if you have any questions: @nikki_k123 Alex has been living the same life, with the same routine, repeating it every day. Every day is the same. The one thing she does look forward to is going to cafe de l'amour every morning on her way to school, where she sits and writes, all while seeing Carter Reed. The most popular boy at school who, surprisingly, prefers the solitary life. They go to the same cafe every day, sit at the same tables every day, and notice each other every day, yet are strangers who have never uttered a word to one another. And strangers they shall remain. Perfect strangers. But that's about to change. . . . . . I watched as he kept his eyes trained on the notebook in front of him where he aimlessly drew spirals and coils that surrounded each other, trapped each other, and suffocated each other. My eyes traced the movement of his pen, following each line he drew onto the paper. "Your tea." I snapped out of my trance and looked up, thanking Katy before she went back to the counter. I turned back and caught him looking at me. I expected him to look away and continue acting like I don't exist. Like he's always done and so have I. What I didn't expect was for him to walk right over and sit with me. "Hi, I'm Carter." PSA: This story is inspired by the Wattpad novel 'Caffeine' by @meddlingkids ALL RIGHTS RESERVED
