Twenty-four-year-old Aster Pryce was stuck in a vicious cycle of loss and destruction that followed her everywhere she went. It started with the loss of her parents at only 17 years old. Not long after, she met her boyfriend, Hunter Mathers, who she thought was her saving grace, but he proved he was the complete opposite. He abused her in more ways than one, and finally, after losing her job and ending up in the hospital, she decided to leave everything behind in LA for good.
Moving from one big city to another wasn't the difficult part, but everything was completely different in many ways. In this strange, new place, Aster found that not everything was as it seemed, but she liked it that way. She needed a fresh start, and the move certainly did it for her. She met so many new people, one of whom was a man she would never forget.
Even if Aster met him somewhere else, in a different life or universe, somehow, she would remember him: his tall stature, his intentional tenderness, the cherry taste on his lips, his intoxicating scent, and especially the sound of his sultry voice when he said, "Look at me."

Excerpt:
I looked up and stared. My reflection looked back at me in the mirror of the dark room. My eyes were literally glowing, there was no mistaking it. It was not a reflection of light, or any of the other excuses I had used or others had assumed. They were glowing a light sapphire blue color. It was not a bright glow, but it was definitely a glow.
Glowing eyes were not normal.
Okay, at this point I had to admit it, I was no longer normal.
What was I then? For that, I had no answer
