The story begins when Peter was on a mission to stop Dr. Octavius from taking control of his best friends dad, Norman Osborn and his other colleague from the lab. His teammates weren't responding to his signals to come help, but Peter was lucky that a man named Deadpool was not far from the scene and came to help him.
This story is part of the ultimate Spider-Man trilogy, so Pool and Peter are canonically the same age. Canonically Spider-Man is either 29 or mid 30s and Deadpool is 28-35, in the comics.
