My name is Shane. This collection holds every original poem I've ever written, a diary of sorts-a record of the inner battles I've faced, unfiltered and unguarded. Each piece dives into my feelings, my thoughts, and experiences as I've wrestled with mental illness, capturing fragments of myself in moments of darkness and survival. Writing these poems has been one of my only outlets, a way to bring my reality into words.
Content Advisory:
Please note: this collection covers sensitive topics, including mental illness, depression, self-harm, and thoughts of suicide. Each poem is marked with trigger warnings based on the level of detail, as follows:
**TW** **TW** - For poems with specific details regarding sensitive topics.
**TW** - For poems with brief or less explicit references to similar themes.
While I've made minor edits to some pieces, I've preserved much of the original text to show the progression of my writing over time. You'll find that recent works feel more structured and refined, but each poem remains true to its raw, unfiltered nature.
Note from the Author:
I don't consider myself a polished poet or a master of structure; this collection isn't about perfection. Instead, it's about expression-the art of translating emotions, the weight of thoughts, and the truth of my experiences. I invite you to read at your own pace, skip around, and linger where you find resonance. These words are pieces of me, offered honestly and without expectation.
