Imani Carrera is a 17-year-old sarcastic firecracker with a sharp tongue and an unapologetic love for chaos. Growing up in the privileged world of Figure Eight, she's spent her life rejecting the Kook ideals her parents tried to instill in her. Instead, Imani carved her own path, one filled with music, surfing, and a fierce loyalty to the Pogues and her sister Kiara. Then there's JJ Maybank-the wild card. JJ has always been Imani's partner in chaos, her reckless counterpart who matches her energy in all the best (and worst) ways. Their playful teasing and flirtatious banter have always been a hallmark of their friendship, but as time goes on, Imani begins to feel a magnetic pull toward him she can't quite ignore. JJ knows her better than anyone, seeing through her defenses and understanding her in a way that feels both exhilarating and terrifying. For years, Imani dismissed their connection as nothing more than harmless fun, but as grief and loss draw them closer together, the lines between friendship and something more begin to blur. Imani fights against her feelings, unwilling to risk the dynamic they've built or the possibility of ruining their friendship. But the more time they spend together, the harder it becomes to deny the truth-JJ isn't just her partner in chaos; he might be the one person who understands her better than she understands herself. In a world divided by class and chaos, Imani and JJ must decide whether to take the leap into something deeper or let their fear keep them apart.
