Laila Matheson takes pride in her position with the NHL team of her dreams. All of the hard work, all of the lessons learned and proving the doubters wrong.

When she receives what seems to be a harmless event invite she is reminded of a past self that used to be guided by insecurity and uncertainty. The only way she can think to go through with the event is to bring a date to cushion the blow of her past.

A last minute emergency leaves her initial date unable to attend the event from hell. She turns to the people that have become a second family, the hockey team she works for. 

In an unexpected turn of events the captain of the team Dawson Jackson agrees to tag along. Nothing could go wrong...or painfully right...
