When she receives what seems to be a harmless event invite she is reminded of a past self that used to be guided by insecurity and uncertainty. The only way she can think to go through with the event is to bring a date to cushion the blow of her past.
A last minute emergency leaves her initial date unable to attend the event from hell. She turns to the people that have become a second family, the hockey team she works for.

Born deaf, Carter had to overcome extreme adversity to accomplish his goal of being a professional hockey player. After being drafted 22nd overall in the NHL draft he finds himself attending his third year of university before signing an NHL contract. When Rosalie is hired by Yale University to be an ASL interpreter she is assigned to interpret for Carter because of her background with hockey and business classes. The unlikely pair form a relationship that slowly goes past purely professional as they find their way through each other's worlds.
