In the country of Duskvale, status is everything. This is a lesson mixed-born Anya Duskheart learned at a young age. For years, Anya has been surviving on the streets, stealing to survive. One day, she meets a young man named Kael who invites her to join the infamous rebel group known as the Ember's Heart. Initially hesitant, Anya agrees and becomes a reliable asset to the Heart.
She and Kael grow closer together as they work to fix the corrupt system from the inside out. Soon, they realize that the High Advisor is not what she seems and an ancient evil is rising in power by the day. Not only that, but the safety of not just the Heart but Duskvale and potentially the entirety of the Five Lands is at stake! Does this group of misfits and outcasts have what it takes to save their world? Or will a shadow befall the Lands forever?
